The New York Times and Wall Street Journal both berated the pharmaceutical
industry for not coming up with many new medications in the past decade. The
most important drugs are for cancer treatment, AIDS or heart disease. In a
19 page review on acne treatments (Archives of Family Medicine, 2000),
"There is a clear-cut need for new, safe, and effective agents in the
treatment of acne."
All recent acne preparations tend to be inflammatory, with the more
effective products having severe systemic reactions. Efficacy with these
newer drugs can be seen in not less than 6 to 12 weeks, and more important,
percent reduction in lesions for one drug are only 49%, vs. 37% for placebo,
and 68% vs. 40% in another. Sometimes in order to improve results a
combination therapy is prescribed.
Simply Clear Acne Gel treats severe acne as well as mild, and good results
are seen in a week or so. ClO2 is a small molecule, a gas, and quite
penetrating. Its anti-inflammatory properties are due to oxidizing cytokines
and lipase, as well as deactivating bacteria. In vitro, Simply Clear will
kill all bacteria in about one minute. The Gel is non-toxic and seldom
irritating--- unlike, for example, benzoyl peroxide, or Accutane and
Isotretinoin used in severe acne.
