Hydrogen sulfide is a chemical compound with the formula H2S. It is a colorless gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs. It often results from the bacterial breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen, as such as in swamps and sewers. The human body also produces small amounts of H2S and uses it as a signaling molecule. SkunkSpray™ is often used to eliminate odors caused by these conditions.
Neutralize Skunk Odors and Others by Oxidizing them Quickly
Active Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) is especially good at oxidizing unwanted skunk odor as well as others emanating from organic odor-causing substances, including volatile organic compounds. It does not mask the odors like bathing in tomato juice, vinegar products or perfumes do; rather, it neutralizes them through oxidation. SkunkSpray™ was created to specifically address skunk odors; however, it also eliminates many other odors, including cigarette and cigar smoke odors, pet odor, vomit odor, sour milk odor, mold odor, mildew odor and more.
Eliminating Sulfur-Based Compounds Smell
Frontier Pharmaceutical’s SkunkSpray™ has been primarily formulated to neutralize, offensive skunk odor on pets, people, clothing, carpets and other surfaces. Being able to completely remove the smell of being sprayed by a skunk cannot be accomplished even with multiple baths as it is necessary to chemically alter the compounds to completely remove skunk odor. Our Active Chlorine Dioxide SkunkSpray product achieves success via oxidation and it is harmless to humans and pets while being environmentally safe.
In order to get rid of skunk odor sprayed on pets, the sulfur compound called thiol needs to be removed from the coat through chemical alteration. We can detect thiols at the level of ten parts per billion. In other words, if thiols make up just a few billionths of the volume of air and other gases in a room, we can smell them. SkunkSpray™ absorbs the thiols into its structure and binds to them, rendering them odorless. Further, most odor removal products are NOT oxygen based; therefore, they do only temporarily mask the smell. Eliminating the skunk odor (and others) requires an oxidizing agent.
