Causes of Toenail Fungus
A group of nail fungus called dermatophytes is the main cause behind this toenail fungal infection. Pathogens that cause toenail fungus infection usually enter the skin through tiny cuts or small separations between the nail and nail bed. Some itching or irritation may occur if the toenail fungus is deactivated too fast. If irritation appears, it can be alleviated by placing the toe or toes under warm running water for a few minutes. The warmer the water, the better.
